DOUBLE DUTY

It wasn't Trinity's best week as a team, but Brock Beachem made sure his name stood out on the stat sheet regardless.

In a tough doubleheader against Bright Hope, Beachem put together one of the better all-around nights of anyone on the roster. He went 4-for-6 at the plate with 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored, and then turned right around and took the mound for both games. That's a full night's work by any measure, and he handled it well.

At the plate he was one of Trinity's most reliable bats on a night when the team needed guys to keep competing. His 2 RBIs were tied for the most on the team, and going 4-for-6 in a doubleheader is a solid line no matter who you're playing. He wasn't just putting the ball in play either — he was doing damage when it counted.

On the mound, it's worth noting that in slow pitch softball, run prevention isn't really the job the way it is in other leagues. The pitcher's role is about keeping the game moving, throwing strikes, and giving your defense a chance to make plays. Beachem did exactly that, and he also racked up 3 strikeouts on the night — which in a slow pitch league is genuinely impressive and shows he was keeping hitters off balance all game long.

Doing both in the same night — putting up a 4-for-6 line at the plate and then going out and pitching both games — is the kind of effort that doesn't always show up in a box score the way it should. It takes a lot out of a guy, and Beachem never let up.

Trinity is looking to bounce back in week four, and if Brock keeps playing like this, he's going to be a big reason why they do.
