2026 OPPONENT OVERVIEW
4/28/26
Trinity softball recently had their schedule released. With the league going back to only two divisions, there are no longer any out of divisions games. The new division has the following teams: Trinity, Bright Hope, First Baptist, North Main Street, St. Faustina, St. Peter’s, and Victory 3. All around a very even division overall.
1. Bright Hope
Bright Hope was originally the team moving down from Division 2 to be a part of Division 3. Yes, they had a rough season in 2025, but before that they were just coming off of a Division 3 championship run in 2024 to get themselves to Division 2. They are an opponent that this new Trinity team has yet to face, they are challenging but not unbeatable, although in this new division anybody can beat anybody, it will be a very tough division all around.
2. First Baptist
First Baptist and Trinity were pretty even last year, they split the season series 2-2, with all 4 games being very competitive and close games, with two of them going into extra innings. Trinity has gained a good amount of new players, but they lost some key pieces as well. However, the new pieces are likely to step up and they are ready for this new league.
3. North Main Street
North Main Street was the eventual champion in Division 3 for 2025. However, Trinity only got the opportunity to play them once the entire season. It was the second night of the year for Trinity, they lost both games but not by much, Trinity just couldn’t find their groove that night, especially with hitting. Trinity was also low on players. I think that if Trinity gets a chance to play them at full strength, the tides could turn for them. Either way, it will be an exciting matchup.
4. St. Faustina
St. Faustina finished fourth in Division 2 for the second year in a row in 2025. Trinity did not get the chance to play them in 2025. However, they played 4 games against them in 2024. 2024 was a rough year for Trinity, it was by far the worst team they have had since becoming a new team. It was their first year, they were put in Division 2 instead of Division 3, and most of their guys were brand new at playing softball. But, they went 2-2 against St. Faustina that year, including a 16-6 victory over them to end the year. Trinity beat St. Faustina when Trinity was at their worst, but St Faustina still beat them twice as well. Once again, a very even matchup between these two teams.
5. St. Peter's
St. Peter's was Trinity's kryptonite in 2025. Trinity went a whopping 0-4 against St. Peter's in the regular season. St. Peter's always seemed to be the team that Trinity struggled to get players to show up for as well. Trinity ended up playing St. Peter’s in the semifinals of the playoffs last year, and they gave them two rough games with only 9 players. They kept the games close and had St. Peter’s on their heels, but St. Peter’s once again got the best of them. St. Peter’s will undoubtedly be one of the toughest teams Trinity faces this year, but Trinity has a chip on their shoulder and is looking to turn the tide.
6. Victory 3
Victory 3 is the newest team to the BIFSL. They are an addition to Victory 1 and 2, two very good teams playing in Division 1, with Victory 1 coming off a Division 1 championship in 2025. There is a lot of mystery with Victory 3, however it is safe to assume that a branch of Victory will be just as competitive as the rest of the teams in Division 2. The worst thing Trinity could do is take them lightly. Victory 3 could very well be a championship contender, but we won’t find that out until the league starts. Either way, it is important for Trinity to come out guns-a-blazing against this team, and to not underestimate them going into the season.
Season Prediction:
With the new divisions, the schedule works out so Trinity plays 4 teams two nights, and 2 teams only one night. They only play one night against St. Faustina and First Baptist. Which means they play two nights against St. Peter’s, North Main Street, Bright Hope, and Victory 3. Any of these matchups could go either way. If Trinity comes out and plays like they are capable, I believe they could be a 15-16 win team. They have the hitting, it all comes down to their defense. If they improve on defense and show flashes of good defense they had in a few games in 2025, and make it more consistent, they will be a dangerous team. Either way Trinity will be one of the most fun teams to watch this year, and will give every team a run for their money.
